You, dear, are so beautifully inviting us to share ourselves with, and draw strength from, one another, via this blog community that you created. Thank you.

And yet, I’ve never been so speechless in my life. What does one share when one has no words that can meet a devastating reality?

Those who know me would likely say that I am an opinionated strong woman. Some will testify that through my strength, convictions, commitment to serving others, I’ve done some good.  I think that I’ve met my goal of wishing that when my time in this round on this earth is over, enough folks will say: “She was a decent woman being.” This will be enough.

But now? Now? When everything that I believed about this US of A, to which I immigrated many years ago, is shuttered, unrecognizable, and oh, oh so scary… where do I find words? Nothing that I may say can match the gravity of the disaster we are living through and what is yet to come. God have mercy.

So I live in cocoons of communities of like-minded people and I am still committed to care deeply and to be kind.

In one of my spiritual communities, and in line with the late Ram Dass’ teachings, a reminder was recently put out, suggesting to place a photo of Trump on our home’s altar and send it love and compassion. I admit that I am not that evolved, and I just can’t do that. But I also am not spending any time in the energy of hate. I am shocked and bewildered and all that I can do right now is to remain a decent woman being and, as an old bumper sticker in the 80s stated, “Practice random acts of kindness and senseless  acts of beauty.”

  1. Dear Ruth, Like Irit, no words are coming, but I continue to be kind and loving to all I meet. It is heartwarming to know that others are taking the same path for now. I am hopeful that as time goes on it will become clearer to all of us what other right action might be. Thanks to all those able to put sentences together the past two weeks. Yes, it has only been two weeks since he took office. Oy! Hugs and thanks to all. Sue
