This is the first night I’ve been on my own since leaving (I almost said Seattle) Minneapolis on Tuesday. It’s also my first night in a hotel as we were hosted by Amy’s best friend and her husband in Chicago and her sister and brother-in-law outside of Cleveland, each for two nights. It’s a very different way to travel. Much to be said for it.
We’re spending our last night on the road outside of Syracuse, Amy with a cousin and his wife. Me and my various bags in this slightly dismal but it’s only for one night so it doesn’t really matter hotel room.
I had hoped to be able to write a “real post” tonight but it’s late, I’m too tired and there seems to be no WiFi in this room. But I still want to connect with all of you while I’m on the cusp of starting my new life tomorrow.
Today, we reached New York State. For a long time, I didn’t think I ever could or would be a New Yorker again. It’s still hard to believe that it’s happening.

You are looking great, Ruth. Welcome home.

I enjoy the thoughtfulness and economy in your work. I am looking into the possibility of moving.
