Senator Cory Booker and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have been on the steps of the Capitol since six o’clock this morning. They were out by themselves at first. Now, others have joined their “Urgent Conversation with the American People,” the day before Congress goes back into session after a two-week break.
The range of those with whom they are sharing the microphone includes other Senators and Representatives, as well as people from grassroots organizations and passersby. As CBS News put it, they are all using this opportunity to “voice their opposition to the Republican budget plan key to enacting President Trump’s agenda.”
The two places I’ve found to watch are YouTube and Facebook. It’s inspirational.
