In my post a week ago, I mentioned a friend who lives in Florida. After feeling bad for some days, last Friday she went to the doctor and got a COVID test. On Sunday, her husband texted me. She was in the hospital. She had had a heart attack. “The prognosis is good,” he said. She is home now and has given me permission to share the text she wrote me this morning.
Trump, stress, and a heart attack
by LRL, Florida
I have been doing a lot of thinking
these last days and conclude that Trump is responsible for my heart
attack. My husband called me at the hospital the first night and asked what I thought might have caused it. I told him I have been stressed
since Trump was elected and my stress level has gotten worse since he lost and won’t concede.
Needless to say, he said I can’t take things like that so seriously. Men are so different. I have had several exchanges with two close women friends in NY and DC. And one said, “I blame it all on Trump.” I said funny you say that because I said something similar.
She reminded me that we had both read The Devil in the White City in which the devil, with a serious personality disorder (a psychopath), lured young women to Chicago. He married them, bought insurance policies on their lives, and killed them. He did it because he could. I can’t remember how exactly he disposed of the bodies but do remember he made money selling the corpses.
Trump is a psychopath and a narcissist who enjoys manipulating others. And for the life of me, I still cannot get my head around why so many people voted for him again. All of this and COVID.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel. On January 20th, we will breathe a collective sigh
and there is a vaccine
on the horizon.
Sorry for rambling. Just needed to let it out. Such a comfort to know you and the two friends I spoke of earlier all understand. Women internalize. Men must wear Teflon coats.
I took three short walks yesterday. The third may have been a mistake because I was very tired
afterwards. But during my rest, the other friend called to tell me about a horrible nightmare she had after Trump did something so dastardly she was shaking as a result. He has harmed more people than he will ever know. But he doesn’t care.
Today, I took one longer walk and will now rest a bit with a good book. Stay healthy.
